Mark has been transferred to Vanderbilt, He arrived there 8/15 around 3 a.m We are not sure when his surgery will be scheduled but it could be tomorrow (8/16). We should know more later today. This is a very high risk surgery. He had his pacemaker replaced July 12th it got infected, an ecoli infection, he's been receiving IV antibiotics and the course of treatment is to remove the pacemaker and leads in his heart because they are infected and antibiotics aren't working. They say once the device and leads are infected it's near impossible to clear the infection. The leads have been inside of his heart for 19 years and have significant scar tissue built up. Vanderbilt and Duke are the only 2 hospitals around this area that can perform this surgery because a special piece of equipment is needed to laser all of the scar tissue from the leads inside his heart to pull them out. I know he's already on the prayer request list this is more for the surgery for the surgeon's hands to be steady and for all to go well. I know this is in God's hands but I am concerned.
